Brigadier General Joe Ramirez (US Army, Retired) grew up in Houston and attended Texas A&M University as a member of the Corps of Cadets and the Texas Aggie Band. A Distinguished Military Graduate in 1979, he was commissioned into the United States Army as a Field Artillery officer.
Ramirez served our country for 31 years, commanding soldiers around the world as he lead various joint and operational commands. During Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff for the US Central Command. In Korea, he served as Deputy Division Commander for the 2nd Infantry. At the US European Command in Germany, he served as Deputy Director for Strategy, Plans, and Policy. During his career he earned many military awards including the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Korean Defense Service Medal, and the Parachutists Badge.
Brigadier General Joe Ramirez now serves as Commandant of the Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets.
