An icon is a symbol, and the Texas icon is larger than life–a maverick who takes on seemingly insurmountable challenges and just keeps fighting until he succeeds.
Dr. James “Red” Duke was like that. Born on November 16, 1928, this week he would have marked his 88th birthday.
In an odd twist of timing, next week–November 22–will mark the 53rd anniversary of President Kennedy’s assassination in Dallas, Texas in 1963.
