It’s hard to imagine anything more “typically Texas” than the Fort Worth Stockyards–a tribute to the cowboy spirit that made Texas great. The city of Fort Worth grew up around the bustling livestock trade, and the Fort Worth Stockyards was the “Wall Street of the West”–a fascinating history!
Almost any day is a good day to visit, since the Fort Worth longhorns are herded down the streets every day at 11:30 and 4:00. There’s a rodeo just about every Friday and Saturday night, the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering and Western Swing Festival in October…you can even sign up for a Texas Cowboy Adventure trail ride. Click through to the Stockyards website attraction page to check out their educational programs and other events.
